So Americans by and large tuned in to the World Cup, even after our own team got bounced from the tournament. I am already a fan, following it at all levels, since my boys play and love it. I read most of the obligatory “Why the USA will never embrace soccer” media pieces. Here’s the funny part. America already has! MLS is thriving. You can find European games on just about any cable system. Youth programs in soccer are as strong as any other sport. So, as we say goodbye to one hell of a World Cup, I hope a few more among us will continue to say “hello” to the beautiful game.
